Our
appointment went well today. His fluid levels and blood flow levels are roughly
the same as Monday so again, I got to go home!
Another success! Excited to spend another weekend at home. I will go back to
Abbott on Monday for another doppler test and they are starting weekly stress
tests too.
Check out the attached photos for cuteness overload. ((I think this baby has
more photos than some children))

We went back today and met with several more
doctors and specialists. They did a doppler test on his umbilical cord and vein
in his brain and both had improved slightly so the sent me home! We will have
to go back 2 times a week to be monitored until the decide to admit me. They
will want me in the hospital so that they can do a doppler 3 times a day to
know exactly when he needs to be delivered. The doctor thinks we will need to
do a c-section well before 34 weeks but we are hopeful we can get close to 34 weeks
to get him bigger and stronger. As of 26 weeks 4 days he is measuring at 496
grams (1 lb. 2oz).
I am hoping to not have to stay in the hospital for weeks but know that it is
what would be best for him and the safest place to be. I will go back on Thursday
for another doppler test to see where his numbers are.Top of Form

We got transferred to Abbot hospital here in
Minneapolis so that once baby is born, he will go to the NICU at Children’s
Hospital which is attached and one of the best hospitals in the state for
babies. We had our first appointment there today and had a fetal echo, an
ultrasound, and met with a genetic counselor. It was a long and exhausting few
hours but we felt great when we left this afternoon.
Our doctor said he believes the reason he is measuring so far behind is that
his placenta and umbilical cord are not functioning properly and therefore are
not getting him the nutrients that he needs. There will come a time where he
will not be able to survive inside me and so they will need to take him out
pretty early. The trick is that they want him to stay in as long as possible as
his odds of survival and success go up the longer he is in, but take him out
before he’s not able to tolerate it anymore.
He wanted to admit me to the hospital today but said he felt confident letting
me go home for the weekend since we had more appointments right away Monday
morning. He said to keep a bag packed in my car and at any point they will
admit me for closer monitoring.
We have more appointments on Monday and are anxious to meet with our NICU team
and everyone who will be there for his delivery.
